A group of suspended polling station officers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akropong constituency have vowed to vote against the party\u2019s parliamentary candidate, Nana Yaa Dokua.<\/p>\n
They say they will votes for an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n
Mr. Ammishaddai Ansah, their spokesperson, told a news conference at Akuapem-Akropomg that the 14 officers and their supporters numbering about 50, would, however, be voting for the NPP\u2019s presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n
He accused Nana Dokua of masterminding their suspension.<\/p>\n
He said the group found it disgusting, was the candidate\u2019s neglect of the party\u2019s structures in the run-up to the December polls.<\/p>\n
Ms. Nana Dokua robustly discounted the accusation and insists saying, she \u201chad no hand in their suspension\u201d.<\/p>\n
She told reporters that the decision to sanction those polling station executive members was taken by the party, consistent with its constitution.<\/p>\n
She said it was also not true that she had sidelined the party and doing things her own way.<\/p>\n
The Akropong NPP suspended the affected officers on October 1, at its meeting held in Mamfe, for campaigning for an independent candidate, contesting the area\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n
