The Ghana Football Association is yet to be formally notified about the Sports Ministry\u2019s plan to franchise rights to Black Stars games.<\/p>\n
The Sports Ministry last week opened up to the public about these plans in an aim to provide extra funding for the Black Stars, reduce the pressure on government and maximize the brand.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s Sports Panorama, the Minister of Sports, Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, said the process for implementing the franchising plans had reached an advanced stage, and that it was likely to begin next year.<\/p>\n
He added that the Minister of Finance had been brought on board to help with the process.<\/p>\n
But when asked if the GFA was aware of such developments, he said they [GFA] would be notified when the time was right.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cThe football association does not fund the national team, so when we get to the level of bringing in the Football Association, we will.<\/p>\n
The issue is that, we have the right to look for the funding, to avoid the difficult situations we always find ourselves in,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
The Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association have had a testy relationship recently mainly over the issue of finance and ownership of the national team.<\/p>\n
