Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, Alex Afenyo-Markin is also asking government and the Ministry of Finance to immediately address the financial crisis that has hit the Judicial Service to prevent a total shutdown of the third arm of the state.<\/p>\n
The Ghana Bar Association in a statement on Wednesday charged government to release its subvention to ensure the smooth running of its service. It noted that the Judicial Service has been paralyzed by lack of funds.<\/p>\n
But speaking on Eyewitness News<\/strong> the Member of Parliament Finance Committee, said \u2018\u2019the government must be proactive in ensuring that necessary approval are released on time\u2026\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n According to him the same way government spends without parliament approval, it should also tackle the Judicial Service, which is an institution of state with all urgency.<\/p>\n He also noted that parliament will take up the complaints of the judiciary and address it. \u2018\u2019We [parliament] will take it up; this matter will be taken up because the judiciary is a key partner in our governance system,\u2019\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n Mr. Afenyo<\/span>-Markin further mentioned the judiciary issue must not be reduced to a “blame game.”<\/p>\n He also urged the GBA to lobby the executive on the increase of their Internally Generated Fund (IGF).<\/p>\n The GBA in a statement called on Parliament to without further delay to increase the percentage of the internally generated funds, from 15% to 75%.<\/p>\n The MP said the non-performance of the judiciary will affect everyone in<\/span> society.
