{"id":257734,"date":"2016-10-13T12:16:33","date_gmt":"2016-10-13T12:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=257734"},"modified":"2016-10-13T12:16:33","modified_gmt":"2016-10-13T12:16:33","slug":"mawuli-shs-students-reject-govt-mattresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/mawuli-shs-students-reject-govt-mattresses\/","title":{"rendered":"Mawuli SHS students reject gov&#8217;t mattresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was a panic response among authorities of the Mawuli Senior High School in the Volta Region, following <strong>Citi News <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/12\/mawuli-shs-renting-out-govt-mattresses-meant-for-students\/\">recent revelations<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0 about an alleged renting of government mattresses meant for students\u2019 use.<\/p>\n<p>The school authorities were said to be renting out the mattresses to event organizers that need them to accommodate their guests.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after the publication Wednesday, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. K T Aggor, instructed the students to go for the mattresses.<\/p>\n<p>He told them to quickly rush to the school store and sign for them, explaining that the mattresses were actually meant for them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/87188e0c-aada-432d-bacf-19c40c99d93a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-257395\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/87188e0c-aada-432d-bacf-19c40c99d93a.jpg\" alt=\"87188e0c-aada-432d-bacf-19c40c99d93a\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, most of the students failed to turn up for the mattresses since they have already brought mattresses from their various homes.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, the Headmaster instructed them to buy new mattresses when school resumed, since their old mattresses were infected with bedbugs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> checks through the students&#8217; prospectus, saw mattresses captured as one of the items to be bought by the new entrants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/1447733f-0b12-422b-8cc9-b9363df848c0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-257467\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/1447733f-0b12-422b-8cc9-b9363df848c0.jpg\" alt=\"1447733f-0b12-422b-8cc9-b9363df848c0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They expressed shock over the Headmaster\u2019s sudden U-turn on the use of the government provided mattresses, adding that it was needless at this time to go in for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8230;But they asked us to go and bring leather mattresses, now that we brought them, they are telling us again to go for those ones. Then what\u2019s the essence of asking us to bring our own mattresses in the first place?\u201d a student wondered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think I need those mattresses; they are dirty and the school is even telling us if we misplace one, we shall pay thrice the cost.
