The Ghanaian government has signed an agricultural pact with the Israeli government to aid boost agricultural production in the country.<\/p>\n
The Agriculture sector since time immemorial has served as the backbone of the Ghanaian economy producing approximately 40% of the Ghanaian gross domestic product (GDP).<\/p>\n
The Agriculture sector also employs approximately 60-70% of the Ghanaian labor force, and also generates more than 55% of foreign exchange earnings.<\/p>\n
However, in recent times many industry players have bemoaned the neglect of the agriculture sector after the discovery of oil.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview with Citi News<\/i><\/b> at the presidency, President John Dramani Mahama welcomed the pending collaboration between Ghana and Israel and affirmed his commitment to revamping the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnowing the adverse condition in which Israel has been able to establish a reputation as a foremost food producing company. I think there is a lot that we can share\u201d \u2013 he said<\/p>\n
He also insisted this deal was going to ensure agriculture acquired the needed assistance to enable it \u00a0\u00a0produce enough food to sustain the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n
According to the President \u201cGhana has huge arable land, we have plenty rainfall, we have a lot of sunshine and it makes it conducive for the production of rice, soya bean, tomatoes, fruits and many other products,\u201d\u00a0 he said<\/p>\n
