{"id":256103,"date":"2016-10-09T07:33:07","date_gmt":"2016-10-09T07:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=256103"},"modified":"2016-10-09T07:33:07","modified_gmt":"2016-10-09T07:33:07","slug":"naysayers-seeing-nonexistent-economic-crisis-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/naysayers-seeing-nonexistent-economic-crisis-mahama\/","title":{"rendered":"Naysayers seeing nonexistent economic crisis &#8211; Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President John Mahama has\u00a0hit out at critics of his government who are overlooking the significance of the international credit ratings agency, Moody&#8217;s recent reassessment of the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n<p>He has continued to use Moody&#8217;s revised outlook on Ghana\u2019s <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/27\/moodys-revises-ghanas-bond-ratings\/\"><strong>long term bond<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0ratings from negative to stable\u00a0as political capital by citing it as evidence of his government&#8217;s progress with the economy and establishing disciplined expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;HHNn71Yp4e5mOBb6XLyLXXco9BRDfkgq&#8221;]In subtle jabs at the Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, he said, \u201cwhen somebody sits and says the economy is in crises, you fail to understand where he sees that crisis. He probably has some lens that sees crisis were crisis does not exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Recently Mood\u2019s, one of the recognised international credit agencies upgraded Ghana. At the time Moody\u2019s was downgrading us between 2012 and 2013, the same people said Ghana has been downgraded and it means the economy is bad, you credit rating is poor and we have fought to try and restore that confidence in Ghana\u2019s economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow the same Moody\u2019s upgrades us and an opposition leader says Moody\u2019s doesn\u2019t know what it is talking about,\u201d President Mahama said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nana Addo rubbishes new rating<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nana Akufo-Addo had <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/03\/moodys-rating-of-ghanas-economy-inaccurate-nana-addo\/\">described as inaccurate<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, Moody\u2019s recent revision of Ghana\u2019s Long Term Bond Ratings from negative to stable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/573420f9-aa9d-4539-9ad6-f84271964d4d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-254903\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/573420f9-aa9d-4539-9ad6-f84271964d4d.jpg\" alt=\"Nana Addo, Ursula Owusu\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the NPP flagbearer,\u00a0the rating is not a true reflection of the current state of Ghana\u2019s economy since there are still some challenges that the governing NDC is still struggling to tackle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs NDC taking the massive unemployment rate in our country into account?This is not the way that the Ghanaian people want to be governed.
