{"id":254700,"date":"2016-10-04T08:14:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-04T08:14:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=254700"},"modified":"2016-10-04T08:14:39","modified_gmt":"2016-10-04T08:14:39","slug":"swansea-sack-francesco-guidolin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/swansea-sack-francesco-guidolin\/","title":{"rendered":"Swansea sack Francesco Guidolin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Swansea have sacked manager Francesco Guidolin, with former United States national team coach Bob Bradley being immediately appointed as his replacement.<\/p>\n<p>The Welsh club, who\u00a0currently sit above the bottom-three only on goal difference,\u00a0have claimed just one Premier League\u00a0win from their opening seven games this season.<\/p>\n<p>Since beating Burnley 1-0 on the opening day, they have suffered five defeats and one draw.<\/p>\n<p>Their latest losses came against Manchester City and Liverpool, despite admirable performances,\u00a0having earlier claimed a point against Chelsea in a gutsy 2-2 tie.<\/p>\n<p>An American consortium, led by Stephen Kaplan and Jason Levien took over the Swans\u00a0in July, inheriting Guidolin as manager, but after their woeful star have stepped in to install former USA boss Bradley in the hotseat.<\/p>\n<p>Guidolin was given the boot on Monday \u2013 his 61st birthday.<\/p>\n<p>The former Udinese boss joined Swansea in January as head coach and, after steadying the ship and steering them clear of\u00a0relegation danger,\u00a0was given a two-year contract in May.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Giggs and Gianfranco Zola were among those to have been linked with the\u00a0job over the past few weeks, while\u00a0there were reports club chairman Huw Jenkins had met with Bradley at Bristol Airport.
