{"id":254230,"date":"2016-10-03T06:04:56","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T06:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=254230"},"modified":"2016-10-03T06:04:56","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T06:04:56","slug":"accra-psychiatric-hospital-under-pressure-to-re-open-opd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/10\/accra-psychiatric-hospital-under-pressure-to-re-open-opd\/","title":{"rendered":"Accra Psychiatric hospital under pressure to re-open OPD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government is mounting pressure on the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to re-open its Outpatient department after it was closed last week.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital suspended services at the department due to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/28\/accra-psychiatric-hospital-shuts-down-opd-audio\/\"><strong>financial constraints<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The situation forced the hospital\u2019s suppliers of the facility to withdraw their services over the unpaid debts.<\/p>\n<p>Others suppliers also dragged the mental facility to court to demand payment.<\/p>\n<p>However sources within the hospital have told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the government has offered to give them fifteen thousand cedis out of the over 3.6 million cedis owed them.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0amount according to hospital authorities, is woefully inadequate to run the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile management of the hospital is expected to meet today [Monday], to decide on their next line of action.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We don\u2019t even have A-4 sheets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dire situation of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital has <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/29\/we-dont-even-have-a-4-sheets-accra-psychiatric-hospital-laments\/\"><strong>deteriorated<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to the point where the facility does not even have access to basic items such as A-4 sheets to take down minor but critical information.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Hospital\u2019s Public Relations Unit, Edwina Ankomah, lamented on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong> that, the hospital is in dire need of basic things like \u201cgloves, disinfectants, and\u00a0stationary \u00a0like paper.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust a plain sheet \u2013 because someone will walk in and would want a medical report for school or something and we don\u2019t have even an A-4 sheet,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Zoe Abu Baido\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government is mounting pressure on the Accra Psychiatric Hospital to re-open its Outpatient department after it was closed last week.
