{"id":25346,"date":"2014-06-16T19:21:41","date_gmt":"2014-06-16T19:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=25346"},"modified":"2014-12-31T00:28:11","modified_gmt":"2014-12-31T00:28:11","slug":"irate-black-stars-suppoters-stranded-at-accra-sports-stadium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/06\/irate-black-stars-suppoters-stranded-at-accra-sports-stadium\/","title":{"rendered":"Irate Black Stars suppoters stranded at Accra Sports Stadium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A large number of Black Stars fans on Monday expressed their outrage at the Accra Sports Stadium after their hopes of travelling to support the Black Stars at the ongoing World Cup tournament in Brazil were dashed at the final moment.<\/p>\n<p>The supporters who had travelled from various sections of the country had pitched camp at the Kotoka International Airport only to receive a directive from the Sports Ministry to move to the Accra Sports Stadium to pick up their accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, some fans realized that a list had been prepared which meant that only a selected few out of the lot would receive endorsement for the trip to Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>Some of them who spoke to Citi Sports hinted that they had been sidelined due to their political affiliation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The supporters group that i belong to is being seen as a political supporters union,as i speak to you now we have no mouthpiece to air our grievances,&#8221; lamented one supporter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe that people are being allocated slots by virtue of their political affiliation. Why is that so? We belong to one nation. So why are we being treated like this?,&#8221; another supporter said.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Youth and Sports is yet to comment on the situation and thus it remains unclear whether the supporters will be going to Brazil or not.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year and sometime last month, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah announced that the Government would send a number of supporters to Brazil but funds would have to be sourced from the public since Government could not bear the cost of travel as it did for the past two World Cups in Germany and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Benjamin Nketsia\/Citifmonline.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A large number of Black Stars fans on Monday expressed their outrage at the Accra Sports Stadium after their hopes of travelling to support the Black Stars at the ongoing World Cup tournament in Brazil were dashed at the final moment.
