{"id":252188,"date":"2016-09-26T17:00:09","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T17:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=252188"},"modified":"2016-09-26T17:00:09","modified_gmt":"2016-09-26T17:00:09","slug":"nadmo-begins-impact-assessment-of-koforidua-flooding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/nadmo-begins-impact-assessment-of-koforidua-flooding\/","title":{"rendered":"NADMO begins impact assessment of Koforidua flooding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), is conducting a disaster impact assessment in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, after <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/26\/two-die-in-koforidua-after-downpour\/\">heavy rains left two people dead <\/a><\/strong><\/span>and several properties destroyed in the area over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Two people were found\u00a0dead in a taxi after being trapped in the flood waters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> gathered that, the town was submerged, with parked cars washed away and several property destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Some residents were also reported to have sustained various degrees of injury.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Eastern Regional Coordinator of NADMO, Ransford Owusu Boakye, they are\u00a0hopeful the assessment would be concluded later today [Monday] before relief items are distributed to the affected families.<\/p>\n<p>A freelance journalist, Ferdinand Akuffo Baah, told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> areas such as Nsukwa, Kenkey factory road, a\u00a0bridge and a Church of Pentecost building on that stretch were badly affected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Meteorological service warning\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ghana Meteorological Agency on Saturday warned of a storm in Accra, but it is unclear whether that also affected parts of the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Jonas Nyabor\/Citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), is conducting a disaster impact assessment in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, after heavy rains left two people dead and several properties destroyed in the area over the weekend.
