Victims of the scam by Network Marketing Companies in the Volta Region have appealed to President Mahama to help them retrieve their monies from the companies.<\/p>\n
Thousands of people in the Volta Region had their monies\u00a0locked up in some fake network marketing companies after they were promised between 800\u00a0and 1000\u00a0percent returns on a minimum investment of GHc450, within three to five months.<\/p>\n
The victims have since resorted to various means to seek refunds.<\/p>\n
Following a public backlash, the Bank of Ghana denounced the operations of the companies and tightened regulatory mechanisms, which led to the closure of over a hundred of such companies.<\/p>\n
Seven entities including, Little Drops, Prosperity and Good health, Global Leads, Royal Foundation, Marcepth Wealth, Global foundation and, Develop Winners Asante, were cited in the Volta Region\u2019s scam.<\/p>\n
But speaking to the media last Sunday, the angry investors said several efforts made to trace owners of these businesses failed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr President, all these founders are from Volta Region. Mr President, his excellency John Dramani Mahama the first gentleman of the land, our father, we are appealing to you to use your good office, to bring these network companies earlier mentioned to pay our bonuses due us. Since the banks are after us for their monies and interests\u201d Hadzidey one of their leaders appealed.<\/p>\n
Some of the disgruntled investors who broke into tears while recounting their ordeal said life has since been unbearable.<\/p>\n
They are therefore appealing to President Mahama to step in and aid in recovering their investment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have invested GHC20, 000 but now I have been kicked out of business. Life is unbearable, God help us, Mahama please help us. These people have swindled us\u201d one of the victims lamented.<\/p>\n
Victims of a similar scam, DKM Diamond Microfinance, are yet to be reimbursed their capital investments almost a year after the promise was made.<\/p>\n
