The Winneba District Magistrate Court has sentenced a 28-year mason to 18 months imprisonment with hard labour for unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing items valued GHC 2,305.00 belonging to a man whose name was given as King Aluta in Winneba.<\/p>\n
The convict, Kwabena Ebo, a native of Winneba, pleaded guilty to all the three counts.<\/p>\n
The court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae sentenced him on his own plea to run consecutively.<\/p>\n
Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the Court that the complainant of the case is Samuel Kow Amankwandor, a taxi driver and a native of Winneba.<\/p>\n
He said on September 4, 2016 at about 8:45pm, \u00a0the accused went into the house of King Aluta at Sankro, a suburb of Winneba, broke into his room and dishonestly appropriated two double bed mattresses.<\/p>\n
Inspector Agbelie said while conveying the items, he was seen by the complainant from a distance and\u00a0unknown to the accused that he had been seen by the complainant, went into the room for the third time to pick a table top fridge and this time he was caught red-handed by the complainant who handed him over to police patrol team in the area.<\/p>\n
The prosecution said the accused led the police to the bush where he hid one of the mattresses.<\/p>\n
The accused also informed the police that the second mattress was being kept in the home of one Abeiku who also lived in the Sankro Community.<\/p>\n
After investigations, the accused was arraigned before the court charged with the offences, the prosecution said.<\/p>\n
