President John Dramani Mahama has downplayed critics’ assessment of his performance over the past four years, saying\u00a0the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is proud of the achievements\u00a0it has\u00a0chalked so far under his administration.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Banquet Hall of the state house to highlight the party’s Manifesto for 2016, President Mahama said that although the party has been confronted with a number of challenges it has been able to achieve significant success.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndeed I feel very inspired by the success we have achieved in the last four years. We can be proud of that record.We will sustain the transformation,\u201dsaid the President.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”invASFzi3jHIDuf48y2YldfoOIQeR0CT”]Highlighting some projects to support his claim, the President indicated that government\u2019s policies and projects have been directed at putting people first.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have built a strong economy for jobs, expanded infrastructure for accelerated development and advanced transparency and accountable governance. We have been vindicated as we have seen huge payoffs in terms of access to education, access to healthcare and other social services. This has helped to improve the educational outcomes and favourable health indices for our people.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further revealed that,\u00a0government has \u201cundertaken and in some instances completed major institutional reforms and built strong and viable institutions\u201dwhich has created more jobs for Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
President Mahama pledged to continue programmes and policies and introduce new initiatives that are \u201cconsistent with key social democratic principles of equity\u201d when given another opportunity to lead the nation.<\/p>\n
He was optimistic his second term in office will move Ghana closer towards the era of what he termed as \u00a0“prosperity and security”<\/p>\n
