Final year students of the Colleges of Education across the country have said they will be forced to go home by close of this week, if government does not address the grievances of their striking teachers.<\/p>\n
The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), declared an indefinite strike yesterday [Monday], to protest government\u2019s non-migration of its members onto their desired salary structure after almost three years.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ca07yweyCCppEAQH5ar8OvwAKWsQuWJe”]The President of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), Paul Wonder, declared his association\u2019s support for the teachers and called on government to treat the striking teachers\u2019 demands with some urgency.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, he said, \u201cwe think the call of our teachers is justified so we are pleading with the government to as a matter of urgency, attend to CETAG so we can be sorted out.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Wonder noted that the strike is affecting them,\u00a0saying, \u201cto come on campus for the three-week course and to have our teachers back at home on strike will be a blow to the third year trainees.\u201d<\/p>\n The final year students are currently on their campuses for a three-week course preceding the reopening of school on October 3.<\/p>\n Given the absence of teachers, TTAG has said the students will leave school by the end of the week, if the concerns of their teachers are not addressed for them to resume work.<\/p>\n \u201c…And so we are saying that, if this strike action does not come to a halt at the close of the week, by which we would have missed one week out of the three weeks already, all prospective third years are going to go back home and resume on the proposed date which is 3rd<\/sup> October.\u201d<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Final year students of the Colleges of Education across the country have said they will be forced to go home by close of this week, if government does not address the grievances of their striking teachers.
