{"id":246868,"date":"2016-09-08T18:39:51","date_gmt":"2016-09-08T18:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=246868"},"modified":"2016-09-08T18:39:51","modified_gmt":"2016-09-08T18:39:51","slug":"mtn-launches-apps-challenge-version-4-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/mtn-launches-apps-challenge-version-4-0\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN launches Apps Challenge version 4.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile telecommunication company, MTN, has launched its fourth edition of the MTN Ghana\u2019s App Challenge competition.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is aimed at equipping budding talents in the tech industry to provide digital solutions to address everyday challenges facing societies.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth edition comes after three successful editions after the challenge was launched in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch, the CEO of MTN, Ebenezer Asante stated that the first three editions \u201csaw very innovative and interesting Apps, with BuzTrick, Oware and Wheelo receiving top honors in the respective years.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62749\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62749\" style=\"width: 495px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-62749 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citibusinessnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/CEO-1.jpg\" alt=\"CEO of MTN, Ebenezer Asante\" width=\"495\" height=\"330\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62749\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CEO of MTN, Ebenezer Asante<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Low internet connectivity still challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the relatively low internet penetration in Ghana is still hampering the country\u2019s ability to leverage on benefits of digital platforms for economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>According to businesses in the Telecom and ICT sectors, even though the country has made significant strides in adopting digital solutions to some societal challenges, there is still more to be done if the numerous benefits are to accrue to the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Innovations Manager at MTN, David Narh tells <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> he is confident the situation will change with the ability of the company to extend its coverage with the 4G license.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA reliable internet really impacts on the operation of some of these products that we bring on board as telecom operators.
