It has emerged that residents if the Eastern Region risk losing the Birim River as a\u00a0source of potable water if illegal mining activities along its banks are not curtailed immediately.<\/p>\n

The situation is so dire that currently, the Kyebi Water Treatment Plant, which takes its source from the River, is contemplating a complete shutdown; a situation that will come with severe consequences.<\/p>\n
