{"id":246403,"date":"2016-09-07T08:50:10","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T08:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=246403"},"modified":"2016-09-07T08:50:10","modified_gmt":"2016-09-07T08:50:10","slug":"ghana-gas-gets-nod-to-construct-new-gas-pipeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/ghana-gas-gets-nod-to-construct-new-gas-pipeline\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Gas gets nod to construct new gas pipeline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Gas Company Limited has been given the green light to build a separate pipeline from the Atuabo Gas Plant in the western region to Tema in Greater Accra region.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;GN3Zw9RppGfX6IPLXH207xMBNQNDlFGa&#8221;]This is to allow for an independent piping of processed gas from the Aboadze plant to the Tema enclave.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier the BOST was originally given the right to construct and maintain the pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>But the move was met with a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/11\/ghana-gas-workers-threaten-to-lay-down-tools-over-bost-takeover\/\" target=\"_blank\">strong opposition<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from the local union of the Ghana Petroleum and Chemical workers union at Ghana Gas who insisted that the mandate for building gas pipelines was that of Ghana gas.<\/p>\n<p>The new line is estimated to cost between 250 million dollars and 500 million dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The gas pipeline, <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> understands will serve as an alternative medium to the West Africa gas pipeline (WAGP) which is being linked to the Atuabo Pipeline to allow for reverse flow of gas.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the Atuabo Gas processing plant has been <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/30\/plant-shut-down-not-to-impact-power-supply-hugely-ghana-gas\/\" target=\"_blank\">temporarily shut down<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for routine maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise which commenced on August 31<sup>st<\/sup>, 2016, is expected to last for ten calendar days.<\/p>\n<p>According to the company, the decision has become necessary as the plant has operated for over 12,000 hours since pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana Gas is mandated to build, own and operate infrastructure required for the gathering, processing, transporting and marketing of natural gas resources in the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Norvan Acquah-Hayford\/citibusinessnews.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ghana Gas Company Limited has been given the green light to build a separate pipeline from the Atuabo Gas Plant in the western region to Tema in Greater Accra region.
