We need some kind of calm in the sector to be able to do what we have to do to ensure that consumer get the right kind of service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We came out of load shedding and these things are not really good at this time when we need to makes sure there is a smooth stabilisation of power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strike to continue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), will today [Monday], continue with day two of their <strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/09\/02\/ecg-workers-begin-two-day-strike-over-privatization\/\">sit down strike<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Public Utility Workers Union (PUWU), last week directed ECG workers not to attend to official duties on Friday and today [Monday], until government backed down on its plan to cede part of the company to private investors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/ECGdemo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-242556\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/ECGdemo1-1024x614.jpg\" alt=\"ECGdemo1\" width=\"620\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>PUWU has argued that the strikes are in protest of what it described as a disrespectful attitude exhibited towards\u00a0them by the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA).<\/p>\n<p>Customers have complained they have been unable to purchase prepaid credits for use during the strike period.<\/p>\n<p>But the\u00a0ECG staff are still attending to critical areas like hospital theaters as well as security installations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has expressed its displeasure with recent strikes by workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
