The Chief Executive Officer of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), Charles Abugri, has advised the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consider redesigning its social intervention promise on irrigation dams and factories in the country.<\/p>\n
He said the promise of one-dam per village and one factory per district will be difficult but can be reviewed to suit cluster of communities and districts, to ensure a practical transformation.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”kfAzXI8FY24FF3OUo21PyPwcQtiHNlAp”]According to him, the policies, though potentially able to develop the SADA zone, may not be effective if not prioritized.<\/p>\n
He was responding to NPP\u2019s Deputy General Secretary, Bob Charles Agbontor\u2019s question on the feasibility of the policies at SADA\u2019s engagement with political parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the same with the dams, the SADA approach is catalytic. The place needs something that stimulates growth in a major way and that allows for the demographic shifts to happen. If you over scatter the interventions, you are likely to keep people deep rooted surviving in their little villages and that transformation might not happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I will say prioritize the resources to catalyzing those type of irrigation investments that pull labour that has skill and that also deals with the weather. When the dams are too small, the large amount of evaporable transformation in a dry and hot area means that you will lose a lot of water; but there may also be a place to encourage communities to harvest water themselves. So for transformational purposes we will say prioritize the resources in things that can really trigger a lot of change,\u201d Mr Abugri added.<\/p>\n
