{"id":2447,"date":"2014-02-26T14:22:05","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T14:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=2447"},"modified":"2014-02-26T14:22:05","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T14:22:05","slug":"tankers-to-supply-hospitals-schools-with-water-gwcl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2014\/02\/tankers-to-supply-hospitals-schools-with-water-gwcl\/","title":{"rendered":"Tankers to supply hospitals, schools with water &#8211; GWCL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Water-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2475\" alt=\"Water 1\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Water-1-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Water-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Water-1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is to employ the services of private tanker operators to distribute water to hospitals and other emergency installations as it commences a shutdown of the Kpong Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n<p>The shutdown, which is scheduled to commence on Thursday, will affect customers largely in the eastern parts of Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The shutdown follows a similar one at the Weija Water works last week which led to acute water shortage in the national capital.<\/p>\n<p>The Communications Director at the GWCL, Michael Agyemang indicated that there are adequate measures in place to reduce the impact on consumers.<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that his outfit has a pipeline \u201cthat links the Weija treatment plant to our reservoir at Okponglo\u201d therefore occasionally; \u201cwater will flow to the Okponglo reservoir and it will pump water to the reservoir at 37\u2026where we have tankers waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the security services will also provide some tankers and so will his outfit to augment that of the private tankers to ensure that hospitals do not experience shortage of water.<\/p>\n<p>He however clarified that the GWCL \u201cwill not send water everywhere.
