The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential nominee, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s convoy got stuck on the Walewale-Gambaga road Tuesday evening for close to three hours.

The convoy was returning from Gambaga heading towards Walewale Township for a night rally.

About 30 other commercial vehicles including 207 Mercedes, Yutong buses and saloon cars were affected.

The situation compelled Nana Addo’s campaign team to return to Kparigu and used bypass through Nasia to Walewale Township.

A caterpillar was later brought to pull some of the vehicles which paved way for some vehicles to meander through to Walewale.

Some Journalists and other passengers walked two miles from the bad road to Walewale Township.

A heavy downpour within the Mamprugu enclave aggravated the muddy nature of the road under construction by Tamale based Daadingbe construction company limited.

President John Dramani Mahama during his accounting to the people tour of the Northern Region promised that the road will be completed by the end of 2016.

He charged the contractor to complete the project on schedule for inauguration.

Despite the mishap, enthusiastic NPP supporters at 12 midnight waited for Nana Akufo Addo to address them.
