A penniless villager from the Indian state of Odisha says he\u00a0carried his wife’s body on his shoulder for almost 7 miles after he could\u00a0not get\u00a0help\u00a0from\u00a0hospital officials to transport\u00a0the corpse, Indian media reported.<\/p>\n

Dana Majhi used old sheets from a\u00a0hospital bed to wrap the body of his wife, Amangadei, lifted her on his shoulder\u00a0and started walking from\u00a0Bhawanipatna to his home village, Melghari,\u00a035 miles away. His teenage daughter, sobbing, walked by his side, The Indian Express reported.<\/p>\n

Majhi said\u00a0he asked the hospital to arrange a hearse to move the body after Amangadei died Wednesday.<\/p>\n
