Members of the \u2018Clean Ghana Now\u2019 campaign have expressed disappointment over the deafening silence on a petition they presented to the office of the Accra Mayor.<\/p>\n
The group organized a protest march last Saturday to compel the local authorities to rid the city of filth.<\/p>\n
A leading activist of \u2018Clean Ghana Now\u2019, Kathlyn Addy told Citi News<\/strong> in an interview that the group is still waiting anxiously for the Mayor\u2019s reply concerning the appeal they made.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we speak, it\u2019s been almost a week but we haven\u2019t heard anything from him. I must say that we are quite disappointed, we are saddened by the mayor\u2019s lack of response,\u201d she narrated.<\/p>\n She further added that the group would still continue with its cleaning campaign to maintain proper sanitation in Accra despite this challenge.<\/p>\n Addy explained that their proposal \u201cwas never about the Mayor doing anything as such, apart from being the head of the AMA, ensuring that communities take a more active role in keeping the environment clean. We would just go on with our community work. The proposals and the propositions we have are all community based, they are things that people can do in their own environment to reduce the production of waste.\u201d<\/p>\n The group was formed by a group of concerned citizens with the vision of reforming Accra into a world-class city.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
