A 2016 presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has just picked-up nomination forms for the flagbearership race.

Nana Addo picked-up the form without the usual fanfare that characterizes such events.

Citi News’ Sammy Wiafe who was present at the party’s headquarters reported that the two time presidential candidate of the NPP appeared with smiles and confidence.

“He was very, very confident that once again, he will have the opportunity to lead the party in the 2016 general elections,” he said.

Nana Addo is said to have visited the office of the NPP chairman, Paul Afoko and promised to abide by the rules set out by the National Executive Committee of the party.

He also pledged to embark on a clean campaign devoid of insults ahead of the presidential primaries in December adding that, his supporters will be kept in check.

Mr. Akufo-Addo however, refused to speak to the media.

Early on, a former Information Minister under the erstwhile Kufour administration, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng also picked-up the nomination forms giving the clearest indication yet of his intent to contest in the presidential race.

In an interview with Citi News about his chances in the race, Asamoah-Boateng said his motivation comes from God saying, “when you are immersed in the Lord and you want to lead and serve, you are motivated.”

He described himself as a “British bulldog” and “when I put my teeth in something, I bite and breathe at the same time.”

According to him, a leader must be “humble enough and sacrifice enough for people to follow what we want to achieve and that is what gives me the confidence that God is with me.”

So far, two other aspirants had sent emissaries to pick their forms.

They are Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, presidential aspirant in 2008, and Mr Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, the MP for Asuogyaman.

Another front runner Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is yet to pick the forms.

The party will go to the polls on December 6, 2014 to elect a flagbearer to lead the party in the 2016 elections.
