{"id":242451,"date":"2016-08-24T10:00:10","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T10:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=242451"},"modified":"2016-08-24T10:00:10","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T10:00:10","slug":"victory-for-nana-addo-will-be-very-dangerous-for-ghana-mahama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/victory-for-nana-addo-will-be-very-dangerous-for-ghana-mahama\/","title":{"rendered":"Victory for Nana Addo will be &#8216;very dangerous&#8217; for Ghana &#8211; Mahama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, President John Mahama has warned it would be \u201cvery dangerous\u201d to hand over power to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, because he presides over a divided party.<\/p>\n<p>In President Mahama\u2019s latest swipe at the NPP presidential nominee, he likened Nana Addo to a dictator who cannot stand criticism from his own party.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;cP2NimVJCCVFgBCCo0V1jkI2hrUu2hAp&#8221;]Speaking at Bimbilla on his four-day campaign tour of the Northern region, he said, \u201cIt will be a very dangerous thing to hand power to a party that is not ready because the NPP party, as I tell you today, is divided into two.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo is leading \u201conly half of the party\u201d according to President Mahama who added that \u201cthe other half are sitting with their hands folded watching him drive the bus down the hill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we need in Ghana is an understanding President. The era of dictatorship is gone. We are not looking for dictator, somebody who can\u2019t stand criticism. Within his own party, if you criticize him he will sack you. We are looking for a leader who can bring people together,\u201d the NDC flagbearer added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nana-Akufo-Addo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-241239\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Nana-Akufo-Addo.jpg\" alt=\"Nana-Akufo-Addo\" width=\"605\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>NDC and its flagbearer have in recent times fallen on tagging the NPP as a party intolerant of dissenting views.<\/p>\n<p>During the NDC\u2019s official campaign launch, President Mahama accused the NPP of unnecessarily punishing its members who speak against issues within the party, in reference to the suspended NPP Chair, Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NPP handling of internal friction proves competence <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But the NPP responded to these claims in reference to Paul Afoko saying its firm and constitutional handling of the recent internal suspensions, is instead an indication of the party\u2019s <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/16\/npps-handling-of-afoko-proves-its-competence-hamid\/\">ability to govern<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson for Nana Addo earlier retorted that \u201cIf the NPP has shown itself to be a party that will let the rod fall on whoever falls foul of its laws and procedure, then I think that is a party that we can entrust the destiny of Ghana\u2026 an NPP government will be a government that will let the law apply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Delali Adogla-Bessa\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p><em>Follow the hashtag <strong>#GhElections<\/strong> on social media for more election related stories<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, President John Mahama has warned it would be \u201cvery dangerous\u201d to hand over power to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, because he presides over a divided party.
