The headteacher of Adafienu EP Basic School in the Volta Region, Leticia Yorke, is appealing to benevolent organizations to provide the school with new roofing.

The school, which is also the alma mater of Citi News’ Richard Dela Sky, had its roof blown off last month during a downpour.

According to the headteacher, several efforts including a call on the Municipal Assembly in the area to have the problem fixed have proved futile.

Speaking to Citi News, Madam Yorke lamented that for the past two years, the school has had to deal with costs incurred from similar incidents without external support.

"mahama

“Anytime it rains, the roof is always blown off. This is my second year in the school, so during all these two years, the wind blew the roofing off for about three times now and this is the fourth time. Anytime it happens, the PTA does the re-roofing.”

“The very day it happened, the MCE even sent two members from the assembly to come and witness it including the assembly member and NADMO officials. He promised giving us some items to do the re-roofing but the materials that came, we were not given. Several letters have been sent to the assembly yet nothing has happened that is why we want to fall on other people also to come to our aid,” she added.
