{"id":241752,"date":"2016-08-22T12:12:29","date_gmt":"2016-08-22T12:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=241752"},"modified":"2016-08-22T12:12:29","modified_gmt":"2016-08-22T12:12:29","slug":"defeated-ablekuma-west-npp-aspirant-to-go-independent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/defeated-ablekuma-west-npp-aspirant-to-go-independent\/","title":{"rendered":"Defeated Ablekuma-West NPP aspirant to go independent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former Ablekuma-West Parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Theophilus Tetteh will be contesting the December polls as an independent candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tetteh, who is a former Chairman of the party in the constituency, bowed out of the race after accusing the incumbent MP, Ursula\u00a0Owusu Ekuful of manipulating the process.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;xTywkcCJcCEacscABxbo68ZtcB8OCZGj&#8221;]Some reports also indicate that his decision was also informed by the National Executive Committee\u2019s decision to allow two registers to be used for the primary in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming this development to <strong>Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Kojo Agyeman, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NPP, \u00a0Adam\u00a0Sabo said &#8220;he [Tetteh] is on the ground moving as an independent candidate and he has also formed his team and they have been going around in the constituency against the candidate we have fielded in that constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sabo indicated that National Executives of the party\u00a0\u201chave been trying to talk to him to rescind his decision but it is like all has fallen on deaf ears. He is actually determined to go independent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that they heard about Tetteh\u2019s intentions to contest as an independent candidate two months ago and subsequently \u201cset up a committee to work on it.
