{"id":241117,"date":"2016-08-19T18:46:50","date_gmt":"2016-08-19T18:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=241117"},"modified":"2016-08-19T18:46:50","modified_gmt":"2016-08-19T18:46:50","slug":"ignore-his-lies-nana-addo-replies-mahamas-sleeping-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/ignore-his-lies-nana-addo-replies-mahamas-sleeping-comment\/","title":{"rendered":"Ignore his lies &#8211; Nana Addo replies Mahama&#8217;s &#8216;sleeping&#8217; comment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has urged the people of the Western Region to see beyond the \u201cfalsehoods\u201d the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, President John Mahama is peddling on his campaign tour.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo was speaking in response to President Mahama saying the NPP flagbearer&#8217;s recent observation on poor roads in the Western Region, was because he was sleeping on his five-day tour of that region.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;jpiaoRvVuK8M08Kn6Z0JtqNwCjHEFHAk&#8221;]Nana Addo had bemoaned the poor state of roads in the region criticizing the government for failing to honour its promise to fix the roads.<\/p>\n<p>But President Mahama, who started campaign in the region hit back at Nana Addo, retorting that the NPP flagbearer\u00a0<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/16\/nana-addo-didnt-see-good-roads-because-he-slept-on-wr-tour-mahama\/\">must have\u00a0probably\u00a0been sleeping<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to have missed the good work done by the government on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo has kept the\u00a0back and forth between the two rivals to the presidency alive, as he has maintained that he \u201cdid not see the roads he [President Mahama] constructed. It was the same poor muddy roads I used in the region. I was wondering what roads he was talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people in the Western Region and all those who use those roads there will know the one who is peddling falsehood. If the roads were good, would they have included it in their projects,\u201d he questioned further\u00a0during an address at the Achimota Station in the Okaikoi North constituency on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me ask you; do you see anything near good roads? Do you see that most of the roads are in good shape? We should not be deceived by these falsehoods,\u201d he said to the people of the Western Region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Western Region NPP demands apology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the\u00a0NPP in the Western Region, has taken offense following President Mahama\u2019s retort to its party\u2019s presidential nominee and asked that he apologizes to him and the people of the region.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed by Okatakyie Amankwaa\u00a0Afrifa, Western Regional NPP Communications Director, it said \u201cWe see this not only as an insult to Nana Akufo-Addo, but also the Chiefs and people of the Western Region.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can a President who has made infrastructural projects his main campaign message think it is wise and decent to insult those who ask for the same thing? Isn\u2019t this strange,\u201d the Western Region NPP questioned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the President to immediately apologise\u00a0to the Chiefs and people of the Western Region. Our Chiefs and people deserve respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mahama sharing goodies to deceive Ghanaians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nana Addo also took a swipe at the First family over what the NPP <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/17\/lordina-mahama-sharing-gifts-for-votes-npp-asks\/\">has described<\/a><\/strong><\/span> as their increased generosity ahead of the polls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. President, if you know you have performed so well as you claim, you and your wife will not be sharing goodies for votes.\u00a0What is the motive behind the sharing of all these goodies?
