The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) incumbent Member of Parliament for Tatale-Sanguli Constituency in the Northern Region, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2016 Parliamentary election as an independent candidate.

James Cecil Yanwube made this known at a news conference in Tamale on August 18, 2016, ahead of his visit to the constituency to make the announcement.

His decision followed a demonstration by majority of his constituents and some NPP constituency executives, who admonished him to go independent.

According to him, his constituents’ threat to banish him from the area if he declined to contest as an independent candidate, informed his decision.
