Lawyer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Godfred Dame has said the Human Rights Court’s verdict on the former National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko\u2019s suit has vindicated the party.<\/p>\n

Mr. Dame argues that the court\u2019s ruling shows that the NPP did no wrong by suspending Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”NDRimpyZnadsTTtDgykv9ubY1VHXw2D9″]A Human Rights Court in Accra on Monday dismissed a suit<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>filed by Paul Afoko challenging his suspension.<\/p>\n

Mr. Afoko was suspended by the party\u2019s National Executive Committee for misconduct.<\/p>\n

He subsequently filed a suit at the court , saying his suspension was illegal and a breach of the NPP constitution.<\/p>\n

But delivering his judgment today[Monday], Justice Anthony Yeboah stated that Afoko\u2019s lawyers failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove their case that the procedure used to suspend Mr Afoko was unlawful and unfair.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Journalists after the judgment, Godfred Dame described the suit as an \u201cunnecessary distraction.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this case was unnecessary distraction. It was clearly part of the efforts by some people to undermine the campaign..\u201d<\/p>\n

He further emphasized the need for the party to be united ahead of the December polls, saying \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody at all can fight it. As I indicated today that there ought to be reconciliation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Afoko considering appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile Paul Afoko, has said he disagrees<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>with the High Court\u2019s decision to dismiss his suit against the NPP.<\/p>\n

Mr. Afoko has however said he has accepted the Court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the suspended NPP Chairman\u2019s Spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei, indicated that Mr. Afoko\u2019s legal team was considering an appeal against the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026lawyers for Mr. Afoko will carefully study the judgment and launch an appeal against the decision at the appropriate time,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

It further urged party members to remain calm following the ruling and refrain from \u201cany unnecessary arguments but work to make the party supreme but not of personalities.\u201d<\/p>\n
