Traders at Makola in Accra are still doing business close to a construction site despite being instructed\u00a0to leave the area.<\/p>\n
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly mayor, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, gave the order after a mother of two, who was selling by the roadside was killed\u00a0by a falling rail at the construction site.<\/p>\n
The rail was said to have been accidentally dropped by one of the workers.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n The AMA subsequently closed down the site and directed the contractor to review security measures<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0there\u00a0in order to continue work on the project.<\/p>\n It was subsequently re-opened after some safety measures were put in place. However, the traders were ordered not to sell around the construction site.<\/p>\n
