However, only a handful of the students had reported. The same was witnessed at schools at Fijai.<\/p>\n<p>When asked, heads of the schools complained there is a drop in attendance for the past weeks.<\/p>\n<p>According to them, some information they have gathered indicates that having registered, the students do not find it necessary to attend classes.<\/p>\n<p>A situation which has left school authorities gravely worried.<\/p>\n<p>One of the head teachers sharing his frustrations said the students when queried of their attitude after registration give excuses that \u201cthey do not receive financial support from their guardians\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added that their checks also revealed that many of the students do not have parents taking care of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we called a PTA meeting for the form threes\u2019, only nine came,\u201d the frustrated teacher bemoaned.<\/p>\n<p>He however indicted that they are doing everything within their powers to give assistance to the \u2018few\u2019 who report for\u00a0classes.<\/p>\n<p>The Western region is presenting a total of 41,991 candidates made up of 22, 475 males and 19, 516 females.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Obrempong Yaw Ampofo\/<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/Ghana\" target=\"_blank\">citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Checks by Citi News on the preparedness of some Junior High Schools in the Sekondi\u2013Takoradi Metropolis ahead of the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) which falls on the June 16 has revealed that the schools are battling with low attendance.
