The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it will resist any attempts by the Electoral Commission (EC) and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to tamper with this year\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n
Addressing a news conference in Accra, Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, stressed that his party will do all it can to ensure this year\u2019s elections reflect the will of the governed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t compromise on credible electoral process.\u00a0 This is a determination that we will not compromise on for any reason. More so, we seek to ensure that the true will of the sovereign who are determined to see a change in government, is not compromised through any dubious means. We will not allow 2016 elections to be rigged,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
John Boadu recalled the 2012 presidential elections as one of the party\u2019s main motivations in its call for electoral credibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are being carefully guided by the events of the 2012 elections as they were showcased to the shock of discerning Ghanaians during the presidential election petition trial to the Supreme Court.\u201d<\/p>\n
John Boadu also indicated that the NPP is being particularly guided by the declaration by Supreme Court that results declared at the polling stations should be the same results collated at the constituency and sent to the National Collation Centre.<\/p>\n
John Boadu\u2019s comments follow the NPP\u2019s criticism of the EC\u2019s decision to electronically transmit election results during the December 7 elections.<\/p>\n
The NPP\u2019s campaign manager, Peter Mac Manu, called the intentions unconstitutional and that it fails to tackle the challenges that the electoral reform process seeks to redress.<\/p>\n
