The Minority in Parliament say they have every right to criticize the Senchi Consensus although they failed to participate at the National Economic Forum.

“I don’t see anything wrong with that at all,” said the Minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

The Minority at a press briefing on Monday downplayed the effectiveness of the Senchi Consensus, stating that it failed to address the core issue of corruption which is hurting the country’s economy.

But their criticism of the Senchi Consensus has incurred the wrath of some Ghanaians and political pundits who are convinced that the Minority’s decision to boycott the National Economic Forum does not give them the morale right to criticize the consensus.

According to them, if the Minority members had honoured their invitation, they could have made meaningful inputs to inform the final draft of the Senchi Consensus.

On Eyewitness News, Minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu reiterated his earlier explanations regarding their decision to boycott the forum, citing late delivery of the invitation as the primary cause for the boycott.

“To those of them who will pander to the whims and caprices of the Executive, let them consider it offensive…People who are very dispassionate about this will acknowledge that we did nothing wrong,” he remarked.

The Suame Legislator served notice that the NPP owes no apology to individuals “who are inclined to supporting government on any pretext.”

Mr. Mensah Bonsu pointed out that the Senchi Consensus is no different from the concerns and suggestions the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been raising over the years.

He asked: “What came out differently from what we have been saying all through, for which we have been scavenged and been lampooned? What came out form what we have been saying all this while that this country was on a very slippery road and that we needed to be careful?”

“God save us if that is our conclusion,” he added.
