{"id":236696,"date":"2016-08-04T10:55:45","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T10:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=236696"},"modified":"2016-08-04T10:55:45","modified_gmt":"2016-08-04T10:55:45","slug":"breast-care-screens-women-at-aglow-convention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/08\/breast-care-screens-women-at-aglow-convention\/","title":{"rendered":"Breast Care screens women at Aglow convention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Breast Care International (BCI), a Non-governmental health organization, over the weekend screened hundreds of women who took part in the latest edition of Aglow International\u2019s convention held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236693 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/women-aglow-breast-screening-2.jpg\" alt=\"women aglow breast screening (2)\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The free health screening, sponsored by Roche Ghana also took patrons of the event through steps of how to perform their own Breast Self-Examination (BSE).<\/p>\n<p>President of BCI, Dr. Mrs. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, described the event as highly encouraging, pointing out that, \u201cthis is one of the most important screening programs BCI has undertaken this year,\u201d and promised to make it routine in all subsequent national conventions of Aglow International.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236697 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/women-aglow-breast-screening-4.jpg\" alt=\"women aglow breast screening (4)\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Wiafe explained that it is importance for affected persons to report the abnormalities on time to hospitals for further diagnosis since \u201cearly detection and prompt action is equal to prevention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Survivors of the disease took opportunity to share their experiences to their peers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236695 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/women-aglow-breast-screening-3.jpg\" alt=\"women aglow breast screening (3)\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the screening, those found with problems were counselled and referred to health facilities for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236691 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/women-aglow-breast-screening-1.jpg\" alt=\"women aglow breast screening (1)\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aglow Ghana President, Mrs. Dorothy Danso, said the invitation to BCI was in recognition of the level of commitment displayed over the years by BCI in educating and screening women for breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-236701 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/women-aglow-breast-screening-6.jpg\" alt=\"women aglow breast screening (6)\" width=\"640\" height=\"424\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She entreated the women to regularly practice BSE as directed, and encouraged them to give priority to their health, above all other considerations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin A.
