The Eastern Regional Police Command is investigating three different road accidents that occurred in various parts of the region on Tuesday, killing four.<\/p>\n
The four include an official of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union who died after he was run over by a Toyota Rav 4 vehicle at Akwatia.<\/p>\n
Three other pedestrians, including two women also died on the spot when a Mercedes Benz Truck carrying foodstuff from Dambai to Koforidua veered off its lane, running into them.<\/p>\n
ASP Yaw Nketsia-Yeboah, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command in a Citi news interview appealed to motorists who ply roads in the region especially, to drive cautiously during this rainy season.<\/p>\n
He said the slippery nature of the road makes it \u201cvery difficult to reduce speed in emergencies\u201d, hence his call.<\/p>\n
The Command is also calling on passengers to immediately report wayward drivers at nearest police checkpoints.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are appealing to the motoring public to exercise restraint in speeding. As it is raining, it has become very difficult to reduce speed to avoid such instances. In case there is a recalcitrant driver, the passengers should report him at the nearest police checkpoint instead of sitting in quietly to be killed\u201d. ASP Nketsia Yeboah said.<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s road accidents follow another one at Achiase which killed eight persons.<\/p>\n
