A pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group calling itself ‘Women for Change’ hit the streets of Accra to mobilize support for the party’s flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ahead of the December 7 general election.

According to the members of the group, the President Mahama-led governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made life unbearable for Ghanaian women, hence their campaign for people to vote massively against the governing NDC in this year’s polls.

They turned up in their numbers, clad in NPP colours and moved from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through the Accra psychiatric hospital to the Accra sports stadium where the leadership of the group encouraged members to move from house to house and campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo’s victory.

"IMG_9264"

Speaking to ghelections.com, the Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser of the NPP, Joyce Konokie Dampare explained “that a group of women came together and said this NDC government under President Mahama has done great disservice to women’s front, their policies and programmes have not worked to the benefit of women and therefore they are joining hands with the NPP for change of government.”

"IMG_9262"

“Women are coming together in support of NPP to vote for massive change, vote for Nana Akufo-Addo come 7th December 2016. We are therefore creating awareness for this change,” she stated.

Madam Joyce added that the NPP is poised for victory in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections and will leave no stone unturned in clinching that win.

The Public Relations Officer of the group, Frances Essiamah said the women are embarking on massive campaign for change to bring Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to power on January 7, 2017.

"IMG_9272"

“We want to ensure that by any legal means possible, we mobilize the grassroots to campaign for Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to come and take up the mandate for proper management of the economy, for the sustainable development of the country.

“We need change so that Ghana will move forward economically, politically and socially so that all Ghanaians will enjoy the benefits of the state as enshrined in the Directive Principle of State Policy in the 1992 constitution.

“The NDC has done its best, it can’t do it all, it is time for change and are the right people march for this change and with the help of God, Nana Akufo-Addo will be President of Ghana after the 2016 elections,” Frances Essiamah stated.
