Students of the School of Nursing and Midwifery – University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, are\u00a0demanding that the \u00a0its strategies for absorbing graduate nurses into the mainstream of the health sector.<\/p>\n
This, they said, was necessary to assuage\u00a0their fear and uncertainty about the future, considering the current situation, where over 5,000 degree nurses\u00a0are unemployed.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”kITlvIw0Rh63Ael3h2v2Rr8vTmMUegVk”]A statement signed by their leader, Mr. Prince Deladem Adjei, expressed discomfort with the government\u2019s policy, requiring graduate nurses to apply for employment into the health sector.<\/p>\n
The students indicated that this was only going to worsen an already bad situation.<\/p>\n
They said they found it pointless to establish the UHAS to train more nurses, when there will be\u00a0no jobs for them.<\/p>\n
They therefore asked that the government acts with urgency to address the plight of the unemployed graduates to prevent public backlash.<\/p>\n
They said it is important that nobody glosses over the security threat posed by the growing joblessness.<\/p>\n
