A 33-year old lottery retailer has been remanded into police custody by the Tema circuit court ‘A’, for possessing 33 parcels of Indian hemp.<\/p>\n
Jerry John Anachi, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotic drug without authority, was remanded to appear before the court on August 3, this year.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”igJG0Xfn09RNhD1nqVCP7Fekt47l9yBu”]Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stanley Dzakpasu, prosecuting, told the Court that complainants in the case were policemen stationed at Tema SWAT Unit and Tema Regional CID.<\/p>\n
The Court presided over by Mrs. Mariama Samma, was told by prosecution that on November 26,2015, police had information that Anachi was offering a plant material suspected to be Indian hemp for sale at Ashaiman Official Town.<\/p>\n
Police personnel arrested the accused and found 33 parcels of the substance and sent it to the Tema Regional CID.<\/p>\n
ASP Dzakpasu stated that, Anachi admitted the offence in a caution statement adding that each parcel was being sold at GH\u023b100.00<\/p>\n
The accused, prosecution said, mentioned one Abala now at large, as his boss and source of supply.<\/p>\n
On June 12, 2016, a test report on the exhibit which was forwarded to Police Forensic Laboratory for examination, confirmed the 33 parcels to be Indian Hemp.<\/p>\n
Accused was therefore arraigned before the Court after being charged with the offence.<\/p>\n
