This was contained in a ruling by Justice Charles Gyamfi, who presided over a year-long legal battle between the NDC and the litigant.<\/p>\n
Mr. Namburi Derrick dragged the NDC to court over the party\u2019s National Executive Committee\u2019s decision to reject his nomination at the vetting of Parliamentary hopefuls in the Bunkprugu constituency.<\/p><\/div>\n
The court formally granted him an interlocutory injunction.\u00a0As a former Member of Parliament for the area, his action halted the Parliamentary primary there.<\/p>\n
The NDC\u2019s Northern Regional Director of Elections, Tanko Rashid, alias computer commended the Presiding Judge for upholding the party\u2019s application.<\/p>\n
He thereby cautioned party members against such unruly behavior. \u00a0He told Citi News the party requested for GHc100.000 fine, but the Judge\u2019s leniency necessitated the GHc20.000 fine slapped on the litigant.<\/p>\n
He served notice that the NDC Northern Regional leadership will not countenance indiscipline within its fold.<\/p>\n
Until the court\u2019s verdict, the Bunkpurugu constituency remained the only one in the Northern Region without a Parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC.<\/p>\n
A date is yet to be fixed for the Parliamentary primary with barely four\u00a0months into the 2016 polls.<\/p>\n
