The newly-elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abetifi Constituency in the Eastern Region, has been sworn in by the Speaker of Parliament.<\/p>\n
Bryan Acheampong\u00a0won the by-election in the constituency on Saturday, after \u00a0polling 14,015 votes representing 89.97% of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n
He fended off competition from Vida Konadu Ennin of the Independent People\u2019s Party (IPP) who polled 469 votes, Edmund Ofori Nkansah of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) who polled 439 votes, and the United Front Party (UFP)\u2019s Kenneth Kotey Nikoi, who had 406 votes.<\/p>\n
The by-election, which was in accordance with Article 112 (5) of the Constitution,\u00a0was necessitated by the death of the former NPP MP,\u00a0Peter Wiafe Pepera, who died on May 21 at the 37 Military Hospital.<\/p>\n
