New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Mahamudu Bawumia has criticized government\u2019s management of the economy, saying it’s mantra of transforming Ghana is an empty one.<\/p>\n

\u201cNDC took over the reins of power at the time when the country\u2019s GDP growth was at 9.1%. Now the 9.1% growth has reduced to 3.6%. Where is the transformation they spoke about? When they took over the cocoa output was almost a million tonnes in 2010 from about 700,000 in 2008. Now it is less than 600,000 tonnes. Where is the transformation they are talking about?”<\/p>\n
Speaking at the campaign launch of the Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom in the Greater Accra region, Shirley Botchway, Bawumia\u00a0appealed to Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP to resolve these challenges.<\/p>\n
“We need change. The only way we can get transformation is to vote for \u00a0Nana Akufo Addo.”<\/p>\n
The Economist has on several occasions criticized government’s handling of the economy.<\/p>\n
NDC’s mismanagement scaring away investors\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n During his interaction with students of Nurses Training College in Navrongo in May, Bawumia\u00a0said that the mismanagement of the economy<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by the NDC government had led to unprecedented hardship, adding that the situation is scaring away local\u00a0and foreign investors.<\/p>\n \u201cThe economy the NDC, under John Mahama have created, is a real scary economy. It is scary if you are a student and worried about getting a job. It is scary for businessmen in this very high tax economy. It is very scary for people who are borrowing and who are incurring very high interest rates on their loans. It is very scary for our nurses, it is very scary for our doctors, it is very scary for our teacher trainees and our teachers. It is in fact what one can describe as a Kaakaamotobi economy.
