{"id":229666,"date":"2016-07-11T06:28:12","date_gmt":"2016-07-11T06:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=229666"},"modified":"2016-07-11T06:28:12","modified_gmt":"2016-07-11T06:28:12","slug":"stop-dumsor-blame-game-and-fix-it-kufuor-to-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/stop-dumsor-blame-game-and-fix-it-kufuor-to-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Stop dumsor blame-game and fix it &#8211; Kufuor to Gov&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former president John Agyekum Kufour has refuted claims that his administration was unable to solve the power crisis during his term in office.<\/p>\n<p>According to the former president, such talks are only political and not substantial and that the government of the National Democratic Congress would be better served focusing on how to solve the problem.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;EpLRoNJhWE7T1G6SAEHEXQbZfuOIsVny&#8221;]Several government communicators have blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under Kufuor, who they say, failed to augment the country&#8217;s power generation\u00a0capacity, during their eight year-rule .<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0in June:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve said we\u2019ve had challenges for instance in the power sector and this is not a secret and the challenges in the power sector were not created by the NDC. They were created by governments like the NPP who during their era hardly added any megawatt of power to Ghana\u2019s total power production capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, John Kufuor\u00a0said after almost eight years in power if the current government has not been able to solve the power problem then they do not have a solution<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just political talks. Eight years should be long enough for anybody with solutions to show. The current regime has been in power for close to eight years so if they are not having the solution, we shouldn\u2019t accept shifting of blames onto earlier regimes,\u201dPresident Kufour told Accra-based\u00a0GHone TV.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/dumsor_candle-800x450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-229675\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/dumsor_candle-800x450.jpg\" alt=\"dumsor_candle-800x450\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dumsor is not back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President John Mahama recently acknowledged that there were\u00a0challenges with power supply in the country but stopped short of declaring that it marked a return to load-shedding.<\/p>\n<p>We are not declaring load shedding; I believe things will normalize but we are taking steps everyday to ensure that Ghana has security when it comes to power,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The Power Ministry echoed the president&#8217;s comments stating that the current power outages are as a result of temporary difficulties caused by the delay in the supply of light crude among other things.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Felicia Osei\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former president John Agyekum Kufour has refuted claims that his administration was unable to solve the power crisis during his term in office.
