The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) \u00a0is ready to undertake the Visas on Arrival program that was announced by the president earlier this year.<\/p>\n
The GIS made this announcement in a statement released on July 8.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”4PveiB2jtpcg99XoJzlPdbYg3qCPPnRk”]\u201cThe Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) wishes to bring to the attention of the general public that, with immediate effect, all African Union (AU) Nationals whose countries do not have a visa free agreement Ghana would be able to obtain visas on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport [KIA],\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
According to the service, the program will be piloted at the Kotoka International Airport for three months before it gets carried out at other entry points.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe current arrangement would be piloted at KIA for three months, and thereafter extended to all other entry points of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
To effectively carry it out, the Ghana Immigration Service has laid out some modalities:<\/p>\n
In his State of the Nation address in February this year, President John Mahama stated that the country would implement the program so that AU citizens will be able to secure visas upon entry into the country.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, government announced that it had commenced the program.<\/p>\n
