{"id":229440,"date":"2016-07-09T17:15:46","date_gmt":"2016-07-09T17:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=229440"},"modified":"2016-07-09T17:15:46","modified_gmt":"2016-07-09T17:15:46","slug":"ayikoi-otoos-comments-on-montie-fm-saga-unfortunate-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/ayikoi-otoos-comments-on-montie-fm-saga-unfortunate-lawyer\/","title":{"rendered":"Ayikoi Otoo&#8217;s comments on Montie FM saga unfortunate &#8211; Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A private legal practitioner, Edudzi Tamakloe has criticised the \u00a0former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Ayikoi Otoo for his comments describing the recent apology offered by Montie FM as hypocritical.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/08\/threat-on-judges-montie-fm-apology-hypocritical-ayikoi-otoo\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>Ayikoi Otoo<\/strong><\/span><\/a> had told Citi News that\u00a0Montie FM had a <a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/06\/07\/montie-fm-tops-list-of-abusive-radio-stations\/\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>reputation for incendiary comments<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, and that prior to its two panelists threatening the lives of judges on air, they have been known for slandering and bashing the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;yfHNIWd2MLHXPTPUwE1SKODG0saTOLyx&#8221;]According to Edudzi Tamakloe, Ayikoi Otto\u2019s dismissal of the stations\u2019s apology and his criticism of the panelists was unfortunate and unethical, as a lawyer of his standing should know the case was still before the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s simply unfortunate and this should not be coming from him. In any case, these are persons who have been charged with a quasi-criminal offence and have a right to be heard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this matter is sub judice, a lawyer of the standing of Ayikoi Otoo is effectively asking for them to be crucified. What has happened to our ethics, at least as lawyers? This is not right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edudzi Tamakloe argued that Ayikoi Otoo\u2019s comments\u00a0that the apology from Montie FM be disregarded because of previous verbal attacks on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was out of place.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_229443\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-229443\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Ayikoi-otoo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-229443 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Ayikoi-otoo.jpg\" alt=\"Ayikoi-otoo\" width=\"700\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-229443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ayikoi Otoo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to him, the alleged comments made by the panellists on the radio programme were directed at the judges so any link to Nana Addo was superficial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you listen carefully to Ayikoi Otoo, what you hear him say is that Montie has been attacking Nana Akufo Addo and for that matter, their apology should not be heard. The reason why the gentleman are in court, has nothing to do with an attack on Nana Addo,\u201d he stated<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an attack on the judiciary, that the allegation. So on what basis would he be drawing inferences from the attacks on Nana Addo to say their [Montie FM] apology is not genuine.
