{"id":229425,"date":"2016-07-09T14:17:07","date_gmt":"2016-07-09T14:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=229425"},"modified":"2016-07-09T14:17:07","modified_gmt":"2016-07-09T14:17:07","slug":"ghana-italy-agree-to-create-fisheries-clusters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/ghana-italy-agree-to-create-fisheries-clusters\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana, Italy agree to create fisheries clusters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana and Italy have agreed to promote and create fisheries clusters in the country.<br id=\"0.3453387964387311\" \/><br id=\"0.5214772076434957\" \/>A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed to that effect in Accra between the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Mazara del Vallo-Cosvop of Italy.<br id=\"0.4087206397904679\" \/><br id=\"0.3690839435088846\" \/>Sector Minister Sherry Ayittey initialed for Ghana while Giovanni Tumbioli, President of the Fish District of Italy signed for his country.<br id=\"0.3786997326950543\" \/><br id=\"0.5197905910053193\" \/>Madam Ayittey revealed that a fish health policy to monitor the quality of fish sold to consumers will be launched at the end of this month.<br id=\"0.7415571711366429\" \/><br id=\"0.14515553827137317\" \/>The fish cluster was born out of a meeting in Rome, Italy last December by the ministry of fisheries and aquaculture development with the fish development district of Italy.<br id=\"0.9968522068833741\" \/><br id=\"0.40191047836734395\" \/>Italy agreed to partner Ghana to research and train in marine research in order to boost the sector to create jobs.<br id=\"0.8990556590527268\" \/><br id=\"0.5586116240921271\" \/>At the signing of the MOU in Accra, sector minister, Sherry Ayittey said countries such as Norway though rich in oil resources, has a fisheries sector as the main stay of their economy.<br id=\"0.5578332076304386\" \/><br id=\"0.3095474037775723\" \/>Ghana can do same when the appropriate resources and investments are channelled into the sector.<br id=\"0.09668513134062096\" \/><br id=\"0.19590536690297067\" \/>President of the fish district of Italy said Ghana must take scientific research on oceans seriously.
