A member of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, and the Member of Parliament for Atiwua Mponua Constituency, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, has called on President John Mahama, to sack all those managing the country’s power sector.

His comments follow the inconsistencies in the details of government’s package to cushion electricity users in the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”TEgK8m26QzmiUJzQNvrwEdWMZ2fJp6wl”]Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Asiamah said, “If the president meant what he said, by this time these people would have been sacked for deceiving Ghanaians.”

According to Mr. Asiamah, the issue was not well-thought through as the “ECG came out boldly to tell Ghanaians that indeed Ghanaians are going to enjoy a GHc 300 million subsidy” and the President made a contradictory statement.

The Atwima Mponua legislator also said, the lack of clarity on the said cushioning package showed that government is confused in its management of the country’s energy sector.

The Ministry of Power and the ECG announced a GHc 300 million subsidy package last Monday, but the President in an address on the Eid celebration on Wednesday said the package was not a subsidy but rather a realignment of tariffs, contradicting the announcement of the Ministry of Power and the ECG.
