{"id":228176,"date":"2016-07-06T11:00:45","date_gmt":"2016-07-06T11:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=228176"},"modified":"2016-07-06T11:00:45","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T11:00:45","slug":"over-12000-delegates-to-vote-in-ndcs-chiana-paga-primary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/07\/over-12000-delegates-to-vote-in-ndcs-chiana-paga-primary\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 12,000 delegates to vote in NDC&#8217;s Chiana-Paga primary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A total of\u00a012,983 National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, are expected to cast their votes to elect a parliamentary candidate for the party on Saturday ahead of the November polls.<\/p>\n<p>The Upper East Regional Secretariat of the NDC told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> that the party in the constituency has been cleared to conduct the primary months after a protracted litigation\u00a0against the incumbent Member of Parliament, Abuga Pele by his contenders.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;n6h4gCwOj22K2bS8JpS8SNouwZUeSZyn&#8221;]The contenders were challenging Abuga Pele&#8217;s eligibility to contest the primary citing his\u00a0trial at the court in relation to the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) scandal.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Upper East Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Donatus Akamugre, said\u00a0the aspirants include Abuga Pele, Legal practitioner Rudolf Nsowine Amega-etor and Mr. Jonathan Nyaaba.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have already done biometric registration for about 12,983 delegates that will be casting their votes in this primary. The election will take place on the 9th of July and all the necessary preparations with regards to ballot papers have been made with the Electoral Commission.\u00a0The election will be conducted at the various polling stations of the constituency and all the three contestants will have an agent each at all the stations to ensure that, they are fairly treated,&#8221; Akamugre added.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that, the delay in getting a parliamentary candidate for the party in the area will not affect the fortunes of the party in the general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Akamugre cautioned the candidates and their supporters to desist from politics of insult, but rather campaign on issues with courteous language.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And if we go down to the gutters to say negative statements about other contestants, after they have finished the election, we will have\u00a0difficulties in putting our house in order, and so I will plead with the aspirants to act appropriately.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Frederick Awuni\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A total of\u00a012,983 National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, are expected to cast their votes to elect a parliamentary candidate for the party on Saturday ahead of the November polls.
