Mr. Yeboah was suspended after he publicly contradicted the party\u2019s flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet’s stance on the controversy surrounding President John Mahama’s acceptance of\u00a0US$100,000 Ford vehicle gift from\u00a0a Burkinabe contractor.<\/p>\n
He subsequently led the CPP Youth League in petitioning the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), to investigate the President.<\/p>\n
Mr. Yeboah, who was suspended alongside the party\u2019s General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfrah, further lamented that\u00a0his suspension for \u201cfighting against corruption\u201d was coming from a party which brags about strong anti-corruption principles.<\/p>\n
But the CPP in the statement retorted that it “is fully committed to the fight against corruption and supports the full implementation of the National Anti Corruption Action Plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Find below the full CPP statement.<\/strong><\/p>\nLast Thursday June 30th 2016, the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) took the decision to refer the General Secretary and National Youth Organizer to the Party\u2019s Disciplinary Committee for alleged breaches of the CPP\u2019s Constitution. This referral has led their suspension pending the determination of the matter as per Articles 111(a),(b),(e); 112(f); and 113(d).<\/p>\n
This decision therefore, has nothing to do with the CPP\u2019s position on corruption. Rather it concerns the alleged conduct of these two officers in the public domain bringing the Party\u2019s name into disrepute. For the avoidance of doubt, the CPP is fully committed to the fight against corruption and supports the full implementation of the National Anti Corruption Action Plan.<\/p>\n
To this end, the Party is ready to work with like-minded individuals and groups to create the lawful framework for the fight against the endemic national canker called corruption.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, we call upon all well-meaning members of the Party to remain committed whilst we pursue the agenda of campaigning for power to make Ghana Work Again.<\/p>\n
