Manchester United have signed Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund, the German club have announced.<\/p>\n
The Armenian playmaker is understood to have cost the Premier League side \u00a326million, although the fee has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n
Dortmund were keen to keep hold of\u00a0Mkhitaryan but he had only a year left on his contract and made it clear he would not sign a new deal.<\/p>\n
A Dortmund statement read:\u00a0“After intensive discussions BVB have complied with the wishes of the Armenian national team player to join Manchester United.”<\/p>\n
Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke added:\u00a0“Manchester (United) have made us an enormously valuable offer.<\/p>\n
“Had we rejected it, the player would have been able to leave for free in 2017. And all we would have done is delay the issue for another year.”<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old is the third arrival at United following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as manager.<\/p>\n
Zlatan Ibrahimovic completed a free transfer switch to Old Trafford on\u00a0Friday, while Eric Bailly joined from Villarreal for\u00a0\u00a330million in June.<\/p>\n
Mkhitaryan was\u00a0one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 11 goals and registering 20 assists to help Dortmund finish as runners-up.<\/p>\n
He spent three years at the\u00a0Westfalenstadion having joined the club from\u00a0Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013 for a fee of around \u00a323million.<\/p>\n
